Anti-Biofouling Coatings In article number 2201152, Robert Texidó, Pol Cabanach, Abdon Pena-Francesch, and colleagues use a coating strategy combining dopamine zwitterionic polymers to prevent bacteria from adhering soft flexible materials commonly used in medical devices. The coatings exhibit superhydrophilic anti-biofouling properties, leading >99% reduction bacterial adhesion. This bacteriophobic is implemented commercial urinary catheter, reducing adhesion by 2 orders of magnitude, avoiding colonization catheter-associated tract infections.
